On Friday afternoon, I’ll be making the above journey. But don’t fret, it’s nothing personal, Northeast. Nor is it anything permanent (I’ll be back in Boston late Sunday afternoon). I have never been the “weekend getaway” type–I didn’t grow up that way, no one in my family does it… well, at least not to exciting, exotic places. Often I’ll trade one side of Massachusetts for the other for a weekend, but that’s hardly exotic. But I guess there’s a time for change in every person’s life: this weekend when I jet away to Naples, Florida, I will be kissing goodbye chilling scenes like this for scenes like this:

FINAHGLE A BLOGEL

Yesterday was one of those frazzled days… running to catch the B-Line train from my meeting in Brookline (those from Boston already know this, but if you miss the B-Line, it’s gonna be awhile ’til the next one comes) to be able to get to work in Cambridge on time (on a day I don’t normally work). I realize, in retrospect, the 66 bus would’ve been a better idea, but please, I have no time for things that make sense.

At any rate, feeling rushed, realizing I haven’t eaten a thing since breakfast (it’s nearly 2:30), I run into the Finagle A Bagel in Harvard Square to get a sandwich. I wasn’t sure they would even have sandwiches, but they did! They even had pre-made ones, which are much more time-efficient. I grabbed a ham and swiss with lettuce on focaccia and a dragonfruit Vitamin Water and headed to the cash register. This is where it gets ugly… that little sandwich and Vitamin Water cost me $9.73. NINE SEVENTY-THREE?! That’s a rip-off. A BIG rip-off. What is this, New York?! What do I look like, a millionaire?!

So, my words of wisdom to you are these: don’t patronize(1) Finagle A Bagel… PATRONIZE(2) FINAGLE A BAGEL! And if you choose to do the former, at least get the sandwich made-to-order (if you have the time) because that’s the only thing that might have improved my experience.
